PA Grand Canyon area Lakes

     Throughout the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon area we are blessed with some tremendous bodies of water. Certainly the sports enthusiasts and the fisherman have discovered the creeks and rivers that run throughout the region, but lest we not forget one of The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon areas greatest gifts, let's explore the local Lakes.

Hammond Lake

     Part of the Tioga Hammond Dam project and One of the The Grand Canyon area’s largest man-made Lakes, it’s perfect for recreational activities such as power boating, jet skiing and water skiing. Fisherman will find a variety of pan fish, Catfish, Largemouth, Smallmouth and hybrid bass and even a walleye or two. It is an amply large facility with several boat launch areas, picnic pavilions, bathroom facilities, Tent and RV camping, recreational areas and hiking trails, and even a fish cleaning station.

Hamilton Lake

     This is a small Lake just outside of Wellsboro that is perfect for fishing from a canoe or small electric powered boat, or from the shore. You'll find crappies, sunny’s, bullhead and bass, and it is one of the few area lakes that is stocked with lake trout. There is a small parking area, a picnic table, and a handicap accessible bathroom at the dock area.

Cowanesque Lake

     The big sister to the Hammond Lake, The Cowanesque side of the PA Grand Canyon lake region offers recreation perfect for boating and fishing.



Hills Creek Lake

     Hills Creek Lake is a small lake that is an integral part of Hills Creek State Park. The park area has a play area and beech, with a snack bar and boat rentals. There is fishing from the shore or from canoe/ kayak, or small electric powered boat. You will find Camping and Picnicking facilities with bathrooms, some primitive.

Beechwood Lake

      A small lake in the Westfield area. There is a mixture of fish species with a couple spots to fish from shore and at the boat launch area. Like the other small lakes in the area, it is perfect for kayaking or canoeing, or for a small electric powered boat.
